THE QUESTION POSED
Which way does the casket (coffin) of a Catholic priest face during his funeral mass?
RESPONSE
The foot end of the casket (coffin) facing the congregation. The head-end of the casket facing the altar .
REASON
This is the Sacred Tradition of the Church regarding funeral burial. It is done this way because, during life, the priest spent his time at the altar facing the congregation. The Lay Faithful are done the opposite way (foot end of the casket facing the altar) because that was the position they held in the Church during life. Please, share this to Catechise others as well!
