Before his death Pope Benedict XVI requested to be buried in the same tomb where Pope John Paul II was buried before his Beatification.
After the REQUIEM MASS, his coffin was taken to his final resting place where Cardinal Re performed the Rites in the Private Burial. Cameras and press stopped at the funeral Mass in the Square.
His cypress coffin was then placed in a zinc coffin, which is sealed, and then in an oak covering, before being placed in the tomb that housed the remains of John Paul II from 2005 to 2011.
